Kavita Maharaj - Traffic Manager
Kavita attended Holy Faith Convent in Couva and in 1995 continued her education at the University of the West Indies, achieving a certificate in Visual Arts and completing her Thesis in East Indian Dance Forms . She also has to her credit passes in Business Management, Business Communication and Computer Literacy.
Her passion for dance music and the arts inspired her to work on 3 film productions as an Assistant Director. Her background in Indian music and the film world came naturally since she is the grand-daughter of Bajnath and Cecilia Maharaj, pioneers of the Indian Film Distribution business in Trinidad, Guyana and Suriname. She is the great grand-daughter of Pandit Vyakaran Bhushan Ramjattan who is acknowledged in the history books of Trinidad & Tobago as the Pandit responsible for getting the government to recognize Hinduism on par with other religions of the colony. He was a scholar of Sanskrit and a leader of the Hindu masses. Kavita joined Radio 90.5FM in 1997 as a receptionist and quickly moved up to become our Traffic Manager.
She is an artist and in her spare time enjoys painting impressionists pieces, particularly her versions of Monet and Van Gogh.
While her first love is the Arts she has proven to be efficient and a dedicated member of staff. Kavita is also the voice behind several of the commercials produced by the station and she says she would like to continue to develop in the media field.
