Indar Khanhai - Announcer
This talented young entertainer grew up in the home of a musical family where his father, a well known soloist, was popular for his Kishore Kumar renditions and his other family members were accomplished musicians.
Indar started singing at the age of 16 and was soon recognized as the Caribbean's best Indian male vocalist. He mastered the art of the tabla, dholak, guitar and key-board and studied piano with a group from the Eternal Light. Indar's musical accomplishments gave him the opportunity to play not only Indian music but soca music as well, with names like David Rudder and Phelem Goddard . He has toured the USA, the Netherlands and the Caribbean as leader and music arranger of his own band, the Trishul Orchestra.
Indar has won several awards for his achievements both locally and internationally. Apart from being one of Trinidad's top recording Indian artistes he has also produced albums in the Netherlands and accompanied international performers such as Anup Jalota and Mehdi Hassan. He joined Radio 90.5FM in February 1999 and has proven to be an asset to the station, bringing with him his incredible musical talent. He has been dubbed the local "Kumar Sanu" but has his own distinctive style and personality that shines not only in his music but on Radio 90.5FM every weekday on Sajda from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
